Euro Gas Secures Domestic Heat Interface Units for Senior Citizen Housing Development in South County Dublin

Building on the success of the heat interface unit technology delivered as part of the Mill Street and Gardiner Street student accommodation projects completed in 2017-18, Euro Gas are now offering the Fortes Energy Systems, AquaHeat heat interface units, to the domestic housing market.

The first project to use this technology will be Broadford Court, a 21-unit senior citizen housing development for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council, currently being completed by Glenman Corporation, Galway, with mechanical works by TMech, Cork.

The centralised heating plant consists of a micro-CHP and Remeha Quinta Pro cascade system.  The HIUs are installed in each of the dwellings to provide the domestic hot water and space heating needs of the residents. Centralised plant combining renewable energy sources and HIU outstations, present an attractive solution to meet the requirements of the nZEB standard.

The AquaHeat stations utilise electronic control of domestic hot water and space heating production, allowing for greater energy efficiency, far quicker response times and more stable temperatures, than the very basic thermostatic controlstill on offer by many manufacturers. The electronic controller also has modbus communication as standard, enabling integration with building management andbilling  systems.

Optional interface modules can also be provided which utilise the 4G Internet of Things network. Real-time information can be seen, performance measured, tests and software updates performed from any location in the world. This makes it an ideal option for facilities management companies and developments with onsite maintenance engineers who can be notified immediately of anyissues.

Fortes Energy Systems are the market leader of district heating and heat interface unit technology in the Netherlands and celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. All their product development and production is carried out in-house, which means they are flexible in design and can offer project specific solutions if required.
